Three ARC Reviews For the Price of One

Hello there and Happy Monday! I hope you’re all doing well!

I’m coming at you today with three book reviews in one! Yep that’s right folks, you heard correctly. Three! That’s because I managed to read three ARCs (Advanced Reader Copies) in the month of November. First things first, I want to thank Netgalley for providing me with e-book versions of all these books in exchange for an honest review. As well as Andrews McMeel Publishing and Owlkids Books, the respective publishers of these three books.

I decided to try a new format today with my pictures and text. What do we think? I feel fancy. I also decided to put these three reviews together because each of these books was relatively short in length and they all kind of went well together. In the future however, I will most likely be giving arc reviews their own blog post entirely. Anyway! I hope you enjoy!

"Candy Hearts" by Tommy Siegel is a hilarious comic book that takes a real look into people's minds when it comes to love and relationships. Each panel is simplistic in its wording however, a picture really does tell a thousands words and Siegel is able to tell whole stories in each individual panel of this comic book. His views on love, relationships, and Tinder hit so close to home and this books sheds a light on the inner workings behind people's intentions all while doing so through humor. Siegel's art style is simple and and effective. He is able to portray so much emotion simply through the candy heart's body language.
I laughed out loud multiple times throughout this comic book and would highly recommend it to everyone!

"In Love & Pajamas" is Catana Chetwynd's latest comic book that explores the little ways in which couple express their love for each other, often without saying anything at all. Each page tells a little story and gives the reader a beautiful insight in Chetwynd's personal love life as the book is based off of her relationship with her own partner. You can feel the love imbued in every comic strip she draws and each page gave me a burst of endorphins because this little book just made me so happy! It's such a sweet book and anyone, whether in a relationship or not, can take away something from this book. The book is relatable, comical, and to the point. It's the perfect book to give to someone you love. I look forward to reading Chetwynd's other works as well!

"Carmen and the House That Gaudí Built" is a charming children's book following the architectural work of Antoni Gaudí and the house he designs and builds for Carmen's family. This book is filled with the most beautiful and whimsical illustrations I have ever seen in a children's book, they absolutely brought the story to life on the page. The story follows young Carmen as her family decides to move out of the country and into the bigger city. Carmen is upset because she has to leave her imaginary salamander behind. As the book progresses however, you get to see her wonder build as she begins to she the new house take shape and explores the ideas that Gaudí puts into the house.
I think this book does an amazing job of introducing Art History and Architectural History to young children through the simple yet effective story and the beautiful artwork. The author's note at the end of the story also does a really great job of giving the reader a lot of information about Gaudí's life and work and includes an imagine of the actual house that Carmen and her family move into. This is definitely a book that I will be buying for my niece and nephews when it is published.

There you have it folks! Three five star reads! I never expect to go into books and fall completely in love with them so when I do it’s just the berries! I will most definitely be buying each of these books when they come out (and I’ll be buying two of the last one because I definitely want to give one copy to my niece and nephews but I want a copy for myself too!) Which book most interested you?
