Adios 2024, You Were a Pretty Good Year Indeed
Goodness.
It’s been a minute, hasn’t it?
Well a year and a half has flown by since the last time I wrote anything and I’ll admit, I’m a little embarrassed about it. The only excuse I have is that I’ve been busy with school and work and before I knew it I’m sitting here on December 30, 2024 and the new year is knocking on the door. I know a whole year has gone by but it feels like 2025 crept up on me without me even noticing!
This past year has been one of the most blessed years of my life and I haven’t stopped to share a second of it. I’ve tried to post on Instagram throughout the year but I’m over using the app. Tiktok? Forget about it! I deleted that one a long time ago. Something about social media just feels so disingenuous and boring now. I don’t even like scrolling on IG so why would I want to post? I unfollowed like over 200 accounts this year that were not bringing me any joy and while that has helped make my feed a little better, I’m still just bored on the app. (Plus, my IG has been messed up for the last two months and I can’t upload multiple vertical photos anymore. It automatically crops them into squares. I can’t stand it!) The only platforms I can stand using anymore are Pinterest, Substack & Youtube.
So here’s my plan:
- I’m going to be going through my photos and writing lengthy (or not lengthy) posts about the past year. I’ve had so many great experiences and memories that I want to capture in long format and this is the perfect place for me to do that.
- I’ll be doing the same for the new year but don’t be surprised to see a lot of throw back posts from 2024, especially in the first half of the year.
- I’m going to be creating different boards on Pinterest where I’ll be sharing the more aesthetic pics I’ve taken and will take over the next year. I just think there’s something so fun about being able to look on to my Pinterest and be inspired by the beauty I see in my own life.
- I think when it comes to Instagram my new strategy for 2025 is going to be more Reels and less photo posts. when I say more Reels I mean almost exclusively Reels because I really feel like IG isn’t a static photo platform anymore and I want to keep the photos to here and my Pinterest.
Here’s a little video recap of the wonderful year I’ve had in 2024:
2024 was a pretty great year overall and I’m excited (and a little nervous) about going into 2025. I’ll be graduating with my MFA in 2025! But we’ll get into 2025 goals and resolutions in my next post. For now I’m wishing you all a Blessed 2025 and a Happy New Year. May God bless you all.
xx Juju
